Best Places to Be High in Portland

Have you ever smoked a bowl and then wondered what to do next? It’s a nice day outside, you don’t have to go to work, and you may even have some friends who are available to hang out.

Being bored sucks, but if you’re in Portland that will never be a problem. First of all, we can deliver weed right to your doorstep. That right there is a safeguard against having nothing to do. Second, Portland is particularly conducive to lifted states, whether you want to take a walking tour of the vibrant street art , kick back in an IMAX theater for a magnificent movie experience, or just sit on a bank and watch the hypnotic flow of the Willamette. You’re never far from a tasty place to grab a bite if you’ve got the munchies or a free public restroom, and if you get lost you can always hop a bus to take you home.

We don’t want you to be bored, so we wanted to share some of the best places to be high in Portland with you, grouped like our products by how you might feel. If you’re restless, we’ve got some places to check out that will stretch your legs, and if you’re feeling sociable, we found a cannabis lounge where you can light up over a cup of coffee. Portland also has some really weird stuff that’s great to experience while high, so we have another section for stuff like that. Read on for the best places to be high, and you’ll never be bored again.

Get outside!

International Rose Test Garden

One of the most arresting visual experiences in the whole city is acres of roses of all different kinds. There are 10,000 bushes with varieties from all around the world, and it’s 100% free to walk through and smell every one. You’ll also find a spectacular view of downtown Portland, easy access to the Oregon Zoo and the Portland Japanese Garden , and the entrance to the Hoyt Arboretum. Use either an Activate or a Lift strain to keep up with Portland’s natural energy.

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden

If you’re on the east side of the river, skip the traffic and go to the rhododendron garden. It’s nearly ten acres of winding paths, quiet benches, soothing waterfalls, and picturesque bridges. The garden is also home to over 90 species of bird, including wood ducks, great blue herons, and bald eagles. As of May 26th, the rhododendron blooms are peaking, more than Crystal Springs can even list on their website. There are also several broods of goslings and ducklings waddling around the lake. Go slow and take your time to make sure you see everything.

Willamette Stone State Heritage Site

Trip out on the miniaturization of the whole Pacific Northwest as you stand on the spot where the territory was divided into intelligible pieces. Then go up to Pittock Mansion and see if you can see the lines as they exist today. If you hit something from the Flow family before you go, you can finally figure out how to decode all those little survey markers you see on the sidewalks around here.

Eat and Drink!

Rose City Book Club Bar

This is a bar you can enjoy just as much by yourself as if you go with friends. You can pick up any of the books to sit down and read as you sip on a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, a beer, or a cider, and if you find a book you like—you can buy it! This a good place to settle in for a while, either to pass a rainy day in comfort or watch the light change throughout the day.

Space Room Lounge

On the other end of the spectrum, there’s the Space Room Lounge, loaded with pinball machines, classic arcade games, and even an air hockey table. It’s not as crowded as a Ground Kontrol or a Quarterworld, but there are still plenty of open games to play. They have some great retro hits like 4 person Pacman, Street Fighter 2, and a whole slew of movie-themed pinball games.

Psychic

Psychic has good eats and an extensive menu, but we like it best for its cool, dark environment. Whether you’re trying to find a quiet place to talk or just be for a little while, you’ll find few distractions here. The house has a creepy atmosphere, especially at night, but Dream strains will lend it a sense of wonder—especially if you let the bartender read your palm.

Be sociable!

Flight Lounge

The Flight Lounge is one of the few places you can legally smoke cannabis outside of a private residence. It’s a members-only social club and lounge that also offers tasty coffee beverages and snacks that really hit the spot. Membership dues are only $10, but you can sign up for a five-day test flight here.

Purrington’s Cat Lounge

Sometimes you want to be sociable but still find being around other people to be a bit much. These cats won’t judge. Purrington’s is a by-reservation cat café where you can enjoy some feline company along with your beer, wine, or coffee, and if you feel a connection, you might even be able to adopt a cat you meet! Just don’t get too attached—a lot of the cats are spoken for.

Canna Bus

Where’s better to have a good time with your friends than on your own private weed-themed party bus? Take a cannabis tour of some of the best dispensaries (that aren’t delivery-only) with a professional designated driver and a 420-friendly personal concierge. The bus comes equipped with leather seats, reclining chairs, and backlit tables to ensure all your senses are comfortable for your journey. It only seats forty though, so you’ll have to be judicious about which friends you invite to go with you.

See something weird!

Freakybuttrue Peculiarium

Unless it’s Tuesday, you can go gawk at the oddities of the Freakybuttrue Peculiarium, a place so weird you can get in for free if you’re wearing a decent costume. No superhero onesies though, they only want the real deal. Once inside, you’ll find interactive art exhibits and installations designed to tantalize all six of your senses. That’s all we’re allowed to say in advance—better see it for yourself.

Raven’s Manor Dr. Raven’s Elixir Experience

For a more engaged encounter with the macabre, try Dr. Raven’s Elixir Experience at the reportedly haunted Raven’s Manor. Legend has it that the mysterious Dr. Raven disappeared while attempting to create a miraculous elixir for everlasting life. The phantoms of the manner will guide you through spooky puzzles and the creation of your own ghoulish concoctions, should you be brave enough to drink them. Reservations fill up fastest closer to Halloween, but it’s a bone-chilling good time year-round.

The Rimsky-Korsakoffee House

One of the oldest coffee houses in Portland is also rumored to be haunted, although in a much subtler way than Raven’t Manor. The Rimsky-Korsakoffee House is named for Russian composer Nikolai Rinsky-Korsakov, and is best known for its coffee and desserts—and spooky atmosphere. There is always classical music playing—sometimes live—and the decor has been known to play tricks on the mind of even the most sober individuals. Go there after getting lifted and you’ll swear you’ve entered a parallel universe.

Be Here Now!

Of course, the absolute best place to be when you’re high isn’t even confined to the city of Portland; it’s right here, right now. If you can calmly and mindfully connect with the present moment, wherever you happen to be, you’ll be able to have a good time without having to go anywhere or do anything at all.
